The junior health minister says five more cases of COVID19 have been confirmed in Uganda bringing the total of infected people to 14.
Dr. Joyce Moriku Kaducu, in a tweet Wednesday, said two of the new five cases are foreign nationals [Chinese] who escaped institutional quarantine and took the police on a chase operation to the Northern border town of Zombo.
“Dear Ugandans, this is a very critical moment for everyone as the number of positive cases keeps scaling up,” she tweeted.
“Five more people have been confirmed positive, including 2 of the 6 chinese that were got in Zombo. They cannot be presented in court for fear of further spread.”
Following their arrest while escaping to Bunia in Congo, the Chinese were scheduled to be brought to court.
The same development has been confirmed by the Director General Health Services, Dr Henry G. Mwebesa.
