One  United States Dollar is selling at 3,928.57 Ugandan Shillings as of 25 March 2020.
This is according to data provided by Morningstar for Currency and Coinbase for Cryptocurrency.
Just a few days ago, 1 USD was selling at 3,710.01 Ugandan Shillings.
The rise of the dollar and fall of the shilling comes a time coronavirus pandemic is raving the region with Uganda alone posting nine cases.
In the spirit of brotherhood, Nakaseke South MP Paul Ssemakula Luttamaguzi offered his salary to help government fight Covid-19.
He made the announcement during the weekly ‘The Eagle’ show on NBS television.
He later wrote to the Rt. Hon. Speaker Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga directing her to use Shs2m of his salary in the fight against Coronavirus.
“I am not speaking on behalf of other members of Parliament, colleagues please don’t hang me. This is my personal monthly offer of UGX 2M. I want Rt. Hon. Speaker to deduct it from my salary,” he noted.
