Presidential aspirant Lt Gen Henry Tumukunde will be charged in the Makindye based General Court Martial Friday for yet to be known charges.
The former Security minister was arrested Thursday evening by a combination of Special Forces Command [SFC] soldiers, Joint Anti-Terrorist Task Force [JATT] and regular police officers.
Directorate of Criminal Investigation and Crime Intelligence (CID) and Special Investigations Unit (SIU) bosses Grace Akullo and Elly Womanya presented to Tumukunde the search and arrest warrants at his Kololo office.
When they finally whisked Tumukunde away to CID headquarters to record a statement, Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence [CMI] head Brig Abel Kandiho used the opportunity to turn the office inside out.
He ordered the opening of all rooms, safes and tanks at Tumukunde’s home, according to an occupant there.
Soldiers searched for weapons, army wear and documents kept at the Kololo residence for over three hours.
Police’s Financial Investigations Unit (FIU) was also present during the arrest and search.
Tumukunde is spending the night at Kireka SIU detention facility.
