The Minister of Finance was Tuesday expected to provide a response on the delay by government to fill the vacant position of Deputy Governor Bank of Uganda.
The matter was raised by Hon. Mawanda Michael who said this has an impact on the Banks policies and strategic direction.
Hon. Kyeyune Haruna said H.E the President is duly considering this matter and in due course he will make a final decision and communicate “to you as provided for in the Constitution of Republic of Uganda”.
“I would like to assure you and the entire Country that the Governor BoU, together with the Board and management are fully in charge of the bank’s affairs,” Kyeyune told the house.
He said there is no reason for concern about any lapse with respect to its policies and strategic direction.
Speaker Kadaga fumed: “You cannot say there is no reason for concern. These are public positions and they should be filled.” She went on: “I think you need to prevail on the appointing authority to make these appointments.”
