President Museveni has praised world record breaker Joshua Cheptegei and tipped him to bring the country more honour and glory.
Cheptegei on Sunday morning smashed the world 5km record clocking 12 minutes and 51 seconds at the Monaco Run 2020 in France.
He set a new 5km World Record surpassing the previous fastest ever time for the distance by Kenyan long-distance runner Sammy Kipketer’s 13:00 from Carlsbad in 2000.
“Congratulations to Joshua Cheptegei who has set a new world record in the 5km race at the Monaco Run,” Museveni said on Sunday.
He added: “Uganda is proud of you and we look forward to even greater performances, especially at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.”
