WWC: Uganda girls dump Ethiopia, qualify for next round


Uganda U-17 Girls’ national team beat Ethiopia 3-1 at the Bahir Dar stadium to qualify for the next round of the 2020 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup qualifiers.

Skipper Juliet Nalukenge netted a brace and Margaret Kunihira added the other for the visitors who now qualified 5-1 on aggregate.

Alegash Kalsa gave Ethiopia the lead five minutes into the second half.

Margret Kunirira brought the game level with the equalizer before taking the lead in the 64th minute through captain Nalukenge.

Uganda will now face Tanzania at the next stage. The latter eliminated Burundi 6-1 on aggregate.

Tanzania will host the first leg between February 20th and March 1st 2020.

The return leg shall be set between March 13th and 15th in Uganda at the StarTimes Stadium, Lugogo.

The winner between Uganda and Tanzania will play the winner between Cameroon and Sao Tome and Principe for the ticket to the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup slated for November in India.
