Kampala Lord Mayor, Erias Lukwago, says the focus of the People’s Government now is the presidency and how to regain power from the ruling regime.
“I am still serving the term that was entrusted to me by the people of Kampala. What is preoccupying my mind is making sure we have a better government.”
He said this is his main focus before embarking on anything else like seeking a new term.
“It does not make a lot of sense to keep snatching a few positions here and there when the country is still under captivity,” said Lukwago while appearing on NBS television on Monday.
His mind is still on the bigger picture, regaining the power.
“We have a demi-god of sorts. That is the challenge we are facing. As much as we have individual ambitions, let us have a common ground that will rid us from the jaws of one individual.”
According to Lukwago, before he assumed the presidency, President Museveni had never won any election and has never been anything in this country.
“I see several colleagues being persuaded by talks that we should take up more seats in parliament. Let us not listen to them. In a liberation struggle, you go in for the big position (presidency) which should be our focus.”

Lukwago said the country is sitting on a time bomb and it is those kinds of manipulations masterminded by the so-called revolutionaries that put the country on edge.
In NRM, it is treason to stand against President Museveni, he noted.
“In however much, you fear to speak truth to power, there should be times when you come out because it is too much. We are going to see the worst delegates conference.”
He said Museveni has successfully managed to intimidate the jokers of the NRM.
“In Chobe, they already passed a resolution that he is the sole candidate for 2021. NRM is devoid of internal democracy.”
Kitagwenda County MP Agaba Abbas who was appearing on the same show, said currently, everybody is attending the NRM delegates conference including the rebel MPs.
He said assertions by Erias Lukwago are quite erroneous because he is not a member of the NRM and he is politically rumour-mongering.
“The NRM follows the national constitution. We have internal challenges, every party has its constitution which must be subject to the national constitution,” Abbas added.
