Hon. Paul Ongili alias Babu Owino, Member of Parliament for Embakasi East, was Monday arraigned at Milimani law courts following a shooting incident that took place at B Club along Galana Road within Kilimani.
Detectives based at Kilimani Friday arrested Babu and put him in lawful custody.
Detectives managed to recover the firearm that is suspected to have been used by Hon. Babu Owino at the B Club shooting incident.
Nine rounds of ammunition and a spent cartridge have also been recovered and placed as exhibit awaiting analysis by ballistic experts.
On Monday, he was officially charged with two counts:- (1) attempted murder contrary to section 220 (a) of the Penal code and (2) behaving in a disorderly manner while carrying a firearm contrary to section 33 as read with section 34(1) of the firearm Act Cap 114 Laws of Kenya.
The suspect pleaded not guilty to the two counts and the court directed that a probation report on the status of the victim be filed in court.
The accused was remanded in prison custody and the Matter fixed for mention on 27th January, 2020 before Milimani Law Court.
VIPs in crime to lose security detail
Meanwhile, Kenyan police said it would withdraw security detail from VIPs who are involved in crime.
The statement said VIPs who are civilian firearm holders will have their weapons withdraw and certificates cancelled.
