Revellers for the second time in one month pelted bottles at ruling party NRM-leaning musician Ibrahim Mayanja aka Big Eye alias StarBoss.
This was during diva Hadijah Namukwaya aka Spice Diana’s 2020 concert at Freedom City, along Entebbe road, on Friday night.
Big Eye who was donning a maroon head sock but before he could do his job, revellers turned rowdy and started hurling insults at him.
Big Eye knelt down and dared revellers to kill him on stage if they thought he wasn’t a Ugandan like them.
This behaviour aroused even more fury and bottles rained on him endlessly.
“Allow me to work for my children,” he cried out but no one listened.
More bottles kept coming. The security team swung into action and took the singer off stage.
On Wednesday January 15, Big Eye wrote on his social media announcing he would be part of the show.
“This Friday 17th is our sisters day at freedom city. Lets all be there to support her. #M72021_AliSteady,” he noted.
His followers warned him not to dare show up. Some fanatic even posted a picture of someone hiding a stone behind him.
The message was clear.
Not heeding the warning, Big Eye Friday afternoon pushed his luck and posted on Facebook:
“People Power supporters, you shouldn’t be abusing me because I helped bring your chairman [Bobi Wine] to his current Kyadondo East MP seat if you remember well.”
He went on: “Now that he has his eyes on President Museveni’s seat, that is where we part ways but I still respect him as my elder in age and music. So what you are doing shows lack of discipline and ingratitude.”
When he showed up at Freedom City, the fans made it even with him.
After the assault, the singer was rushed to an unnamed hospital.
“Big Eye has fainted and we have rushed him to a nearby clinic on Entebbe road. His situation is not good pray for him,” said his social media administrator.
The message went on: “Doctors have said his pressure is too high. We need your prayers.”
On January 1, 2020, at the Uganda Museum while performing at the NBS Television’s UNCUT one-year anniversary, Big Eye was also pelted with bottles.
He is accused of publicly supporting NRM and President Museveni.
He shares the fate of singers Catherine Kusasira, Full Figure and Bebe Cool who have been pelted with bottles on stage.
Just after the museum incident, Big Eye met President Museveni at State Lodge Nakasero.
On Tuesday January 14, he shared pictures of a yellow Tundra truck and said: “it is now time to look for votes for Mzee [President Museveni].
He went on: “I have never seen a down to earth person like our president HE Yoweri Kaguta Museveni the president of Uganda. He loves us more than we think. I pray to Allah to protect him for us.”
He also thanked promoter Balaam Barugahara, who took him to meet the president. “Oli [you are] Steady Uncle Balaam”.
He went as far as composing praise lines:
Yoweri Museveni….Ali steady
Big Eye….Ali Steady
Uncle Balam…..Ali steady
Bebe Cool….Ali steady
Catherine kusasira…Ali Steady
King Micheal….Ali Steady
Ronald Mayinja…Ali steady

“Let the opposition do the talking and undermining as we prepare to win the next 2021 presidential elections. Thank you big papa Bebe Cool for representing and standing for the truth,” Big Eye noted.
