Uganda has deported Africa’s music princess Yvonne Chaka Chaka back to South Africa.
Police spokesperson Fred Enanga said Chaka Chaka was escorted by security to Entebbe airport on Tuesday afternoon where she boarded a plane back home via Kigali in Rwanda.
Chaka Chaka arrived in the country on Monday evening on the invitation of Buganda Kabaka Muwenda Mutebi to perform at the “Enkuuka” celebrations held at Lubiri Mengo palace.
According to Enanga, immigration officials discovered Chaka Chaka had come to Uganda with an ordinary visa which cannot allow her to engage in income generating activities.
He said immigration advised her to apply for a working visa which would allow her to perform for the Buganda King.
According to Enanga, immigration cancelled Chaka Chaka’s visa to preserve the integrity of Uganda’s immigration rules.
In an interview with Ghetto TV, Enkuuka organiser promoter Abtex said that Chaka Chaka was rushed back to her hotel residence under tight police protection after detecting a possible attack on her life.
