Uganda’s rapping President Museveni set a record this week when his song sold over one million copies in a matter of two days.
This was revealed by events promoter Balaam Barugahara while speaking to NBS “Uncut” presenters.
The song titled “Yengoma Tukarugahare” [we came from far] is a remix of the same song the president made during 2016 presidential campaigns.
In the song, he explains where they found the country and how far they have brought it as former bush war heroes.
“Classic Hit Written, Produced & Sang by Gen YKM. Record breaker viewed by over 1 million people in the last 48 hours across different platforms!!” Balaam wrote on his social media.
Balaam even claimed the president’s song “took the country by storm and outshone” Kyadondo East singing MP Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine’s latest and popular song ‘Kasukali’.
“Our song is taking the country by storm. We have sold one million copies so far with two million views. This is the first song to sell one million copies in only two days and it is by the president of Uganda,” Balaam told UNCUT.
Balaam said that the president is his artiste and already secured Kololo as a venue for his upcoming concert come 2020.
Balaam said Museveni has already recorded six songs which they will release next year.
Asked if he will be singing at events, Balaam told UNCUT “if anyone needs him [president], they will have to part with over Shs500m”.
Museveni’s first song came out in 2011. It was a rap song too titled “Mpa enkoni”.
