Winnie Byanyima, UNAIDS Executive Director, Saturday packed her stuff in Nairobi, the Kenyan capital and shipped them off to Geneva, in Switzerland.
“Finally, I packed out of my home in Nairobi,” Winnie said.
She said 10 wonderful men helped her dismantle “my beautiful home, pack it in boxes and load it in a container headed to Geneva”.
She thanked Kenyans and their government for “such a nice time” she had here.
She also took off some “girl time” to party with her friends before saying farewell.
“And before packing out, a party with the girls! #Nairobi forever!”
Last week, Winnie was sworn in as UNAIDS Executive Director by United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres during an oath ceremony at the UN headquarters in New York.
On attended her first meeting of the Committee of Cosponsoring Organisations and spoke about the next UNAIDS strategy and the need to work together across the Cosponsors for greater impact and to remove the barriers stopping people from accessing the services they need.
Byanyima committed to step up action towards ending AIDS, eliminate social injustice and reach the women and girls being left behind.
