Speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga has met and discussed with a delegation from the American Embassy in Uganda, led by US ambassador Deborah Malac.
They discussed several issues including technology transfer to locals by foreign companies based in Uganda, to allow local content promotion.
Kadaga wished Malac well as she reached the evening of her service as American Ambassador to Uganda, and gifted her with a locally made painting, to help her remember and keep appreciating Uganda’s natural beauty.
Kadaga said Malac is soon ending her tour of duty and thus paid a courtesy call on her.
“Our conversation revolved round pending legislation on elections; bio safety; and local content.”
Malac on her part, hailed Kadaga for being a champion of women’s rights.
She was accompanied by the Deputy Chief of Mission, Christopher Krafft, and the Deputy Counsellor, Political and Economic Affairs, Sarah Skorupski.
Malac, 64, nominated by President Barack Obama, was confirmed by the Senate November 19, 2015. She assumed office in December 27, 2016.
She previously served as United States Ambassador to Liberia.
