Rwanda security forces on Saturday allegedly shot and killed two Ugandans accused of smuggling tobacco into Rwanda which is prohibited in the country.
The incident happened at around 20:00hours at Tabagwe village in Nyagatare district of Rwanda near the Mpororo Border Post in Kamwezi Sub County Rukigi district of Uganda.
The case was recorded at Mpororo Police Post as “alleged murder by shooting Mpororo SD 03/10/11/2019”.
The deceased are; Byarushaga Ayub [Job], aged 37 years resident of Nyakabungo cell, Kashekye Parish Kamwezi Sub County in Rukiga District and Tuhirwe John Bosco, aged 30 years of the same address.
This information was reported Sunday morning at around 08:00hours by the father of one of the deceased (Byarushaga Ayub) called Musule John Bosco.
According to available information, the bodies were taken to Nyagatare District hospital by the security.
CP John Bosco Kabera, Rwanda National Police spokesperson, confirmed the incident to our reporter but said he is yet to get the full details.
On May 2, 2019, security officials shot a Rwandan businessman Innocent Ndahimana while smuggling beans into Uganda through in Rushaki village, Rubaya Sub County in Kabale District.
On May 24, 2019, a Ugandan Alex Nyesiga and Rwandan national John Batista Kyerengye, were shot and killed by Rwandan security while smuggling second hand clothes.
On November 4, 2019 a Rwandan national Jean Piere Havugimana was shot by Rwandan security trying to smuggle Irish potato from Uganda.
