Controversial Uganda Telecom administrator Twebaze Bemanya’s tenure at the national telecom has finally come to an end.
President Museveni refused to renew contract and instead asked Finance and Investment ministers Hon Anite Evelyn and Hon. Matia Kasaija to consider other Ugandans to step in and save UTL.
In a statement Friday, Kasaija announced that the indebted UTL will have a new administrator effective November 22.
He said this followed a meeting with his state ministers who agreed to extend the administration of UTL as they continue to find another investor.
They also agreed that the current administrator be replaced on November 22 when his current tenure ends.
The resolution comes at the peak of a war of words between Anite against Justice minister Maj Gen (Rtd) Kahinda Otafiire, Attorney General William Byaruhanga and his Deputy Mwesigwa Rukutana over the legality of her directive to remove Bemanya from the administration of UTL.
President Museveni was forced to step in but the situation never eased either.
