Members of Parliament have kicked out Makerere Vice Chancellor Prof Barnabas Nawangwe and Mrs. Lorna Magara, Chairperson of Makerere University Council, telling them to return on Wednesday.
The pair and State Minister for Higher Education, John Chrysostom Muyingo flanked by Education ministry officials were Tuesday appearing before the Committee on Education and Sports.
The meeting was set to among other things discuss the 15% fees increment at Makerere University that sparked off a violent protest by students and the brutality by security officers against Makerere students.
The meeting with the different stakeholders follows the motion that was moved by the education shadow minister, Hon. Mathias Mpuuga, and passed by Parliament, directing the Committee on Education to investigate the crisis at Makerere and report back by 13 November 2019.
However, the session failed to take off as MPs demanded for the presence of the education and sports minister Janet Museveni.
The first lady, was however, represented by minister Muyingo while Makerere University was represented by Magara.
The MPs told the Makerere team to come back on Wednesday as per programme.
They said it was not right for the two entities to appear at the same time because they need to answer questions related to the latest strike independently.
