Police has Monday smashed opposition figure Kizza Besigye’s car before arresting and whisking him away.

Forum for Democratic Change [FDC] party said in a statement that Dr Besigye’s car has been extremely spoilt at Spear Motors and all wind glasses removed.

Besigye and team were removed from the car through the window and taken to unknown destination.

His aide, Ronald Muhinda, shared the video of a moment FFU Commander Agero hit Besigye’s car front screen with an AK47.

The officer reportedly pushed the gun barrel right into the screen and smashed it.

“That was after hitting the screen with his hand and failing to break it. Then they went on to smash all other screens to get Besigye out. He is detained at Naggalama,” Muhinda said.

He added: “What a violent way to respond to non-violent man. It has become war.”

Earlier, Uganda Police headed by Maj. Gen. Sabiiti Muzei  blocked Party members from accessing Namboole stadium where we were set to hold a general assembly.

Party members had gathered at the FDC Office in Kireka.

The supporters and their leaders decided to march to FDC Party Headquarters Najjanankumbi-Kampala.
