First son Lt Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba has Tuesday met Ugandan marathoner and gold medallist Joshua Cheptegei.
“Today it was my honour to meet the great Joshua Cheptegei,” Muhoozi said.
He added: “He is an inspirational sportsman and great human being.”
Cheptegei triumphed after a close battle in the 10,000 meters on Sunday, winning his first world title and bringing his country their second medal of the championships.
Cheptegei remained near the front of the pack for most of the race and surged in the final kilometer to pass leader Rhonex Kipruto and held off the challenge of Yomif Kejelcha of Ethiopia to finish in a world leading time of 26 minutes 48.36 seconds.
Calls father Museveni greatest nationalist
In a separate tweet, Muhoozi called his father and President Museveni one of Africa’s greatest nationalist.
“These are the greatest African nationalists ever!” Muhoozi tweeted with pictures of Nelson Mandela [South Africa], Kwame Nkrumah [Ghana] and Museveni [Uganda].
“Mzee Museveni is without a doubt in the top 5 Africans ever made. All of us soldiers in UPDF love him so much! Mzee is our hero!” he said.
On Sunday, Muhoozi warned Uganda’s enemies to beware for they would soon face the music.
“I can assure whoever even thinks of messing with Uganda will get a very bad day. Long live UPDF! Long live Ugandan Special Forces!” he said.
