Opposition Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) has said it seized pre-ticked ballots in favour of the National Resistance Movement [NRM] candidate Businge Mugenyi in the Hoima Woman MP election.
The party said the ballot papers were recovered from military at Kibaire polling station in Bulindi Parish of Kyabigambire Sub County.
Hon. Michael Kabaziguruka led the operation.
“It’s a sure win for Asinansi Nyakato in Hoima no matter what,” the party noted as vote counting continues.
Earlier, police arrested 12 FDC supporters over voter bribery.
According to Albertine Regional Police Spokesperson, Julius Hakiza, the suspects were picked Wednesday night from different parts of the district where they were allegedly bribing voters and threatening to cause chaos in during the by-election.
FDC deputy Secretary General Harold Kaija said the move was intended to divert the opposition as the votes are rigged.
He said the suspects were with MP Barnabas Tinkasiimire but he managed to escape.
These people were in the field mapping out the various polling stations in the district, it is not true that they were bribing voters, Kaija maintained.
