It is reported that there were only two pilots on board with no passengers.

Tanzania National Parks commissioner Pascal Shelutete told The Citizen newspaper that the ill-fated light aircraft was flying to Arusha to pick tourists.

It crashed minutes after take-off.

“We shall update you on what is going on later, whatever we are doing now is to see how to preserve the remains of the dead,” said Shelutete.

The army plane that flew the body

After much confusion, the pilot was confirmed to be the son of Tanzania People’s Defence Forces [TPDF] Chief of Defence Gen Venance Mabeyo.

The body of Nelson Mabeyo was flown to Dar Es Salaam in Tanzania.
