Forum for Democratic Change [FDC] candidate for Kaabong District Parliamentary elections Adyaka Judith Nalibe has withdrawn from the race at the last minute.
Nalibe wrote to the Returning Office notifying him of her decision to withdraw her candidature.
In a letter dated September 12, Nalibe requested that her name should be deleted from the list of nominated candidates ahead of the September 26 election.
This leaves the ruling National Resistance Movement [NRM] candidate Christine Tubo Nakwang unopposed.
But FDC Secretary General Nathan Nandala Mafabi wrote to the same office rejecting that position and urging the Electoral Commission to hold on for another candidate before it declares NRM candidate as elected unopposed.
In a letter dated September 15, Mafabi told to the returning officer that the party will nominate another candidate, saying they have already paid nomination fees, printed campaign materials and organised the campaign process for Nalibe.
But Nalibe accuses FDC party of neglecting her during the campaigns and making empty promises to her.
She claims to have received only Shs500,000 as support fund and haven’t even received the campaign posters.
“Should electrical commission go ahead with this, then they should be prepared to compensate FDC party with over two hundred million [Shs200,000,000],” Mafabi warned EC.
He added: “This withdraw is null and void.”
