Seven people have been confirmed dead while 11 others sustained serious injuries following a bus accident in Nakasongola District along the Kampala–Gulu Highway.
The bus, carrying over 60 passengers heading to Kitgum district, rammed into a stationary truck at Namayonjo village in Nakasongola district.
This happened in the wee hours of Wednesday.
The traffic directorate spokesperson Charles Ssebambulidde said the bus Reg No: UAQ 643W belonging to Roblyn coaches swerved off the road and rammed into a track Reg No: UAX 001Y.
He attributed the accident to reckless driving.
Christopher Ssendijja, the officer in charge of Nakasongola police station, told media that five people died on spot and the two died as they were being rushed to hospital.
