Cabinet accepts Uganda-Kenya cross border deal

Cabinet sat on Monday September 9th 2019 at State House, Entebbe and agreed to the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Government of the Republic of Kenya (Turkana/West Pokot).

Government in support of cross boarder programme for sustainable peace and development is scheduled to be signed on 12th Sept in Moroto and that the programme will officially be launched by their Excellences the Presidents of Uganda and Kenya.

The objective of the MoU is to accord communities on the Uganda and Kenya sides of the boarder, opportunities for better co-operation, close coordination and peaceful co-existence as well as bridging isolation gaps to improve their livelihoods.

Cabinet also approved the proposed programmatic approach to planning so as to bring planning in line with the already rolled out programmatic approach to budgeting (PBBS) and synergize all government activities.

The National Development Plan III strategies are summarized as follows; Maintaining Peace, Security and Good governance; Maintaining stable macro-economic environment as an anchor for economic growth and development.
