Police has erected a road block and barred Forum for Democratic Change [FDC] officials from visiting victims of the fuel tanker disaster in Kyambura Rubirizi district.

Kizza Besigye’s aide Ronald Muhinda said the officials were led by FDC President Patrick Oboi Amuriat and Secretary for Mobilisation Ingrid Turinawe.

They were blocked by heavily armed police deployed at Katunguru, on the Kasese-Rubirizi border.

He said police is currently hunting for opposition figure Besigye who stealthily went to Bundibugyo to inaugurate People’s Government Regional Assembly for Rwenzori.

“Traffic on the busy road including tourists are blocked as Police checks all vehicles looking for Besigye,” Muhinda noted.

He said Amuriat and Ingrid were coming from Fort Portal connecting to Rubirizi.

“The unannounced appearance of Kizza Besigye in Bundibugyo rattled security as he is not allowed in Rwenzori region without “security clearance”.”

He added: “I hope the Police will find him. POA and Ingrid remain detained at the road block.”

Ingrid said they went to condole with the fuel tank fire victims and families who lost their loved ones.

“We have been blocked along the Kasese Rubirizi high way. Military, police, LDU, Kifesi women, etc.”

She added: “These goons are so much hurt by our covert activities of Yesterday in Bundibugyo. They only learnt of our presence after we had left.”
