Makerere University Vice Chancellor Prof Barnabas Nawangwe says he has received a letter from Mr. Aita Joel, the Managing Director of Joadah Consult, offering to provide a Full Scholarship to Mr. Ssuubi Henry.

Suubi is the student who was trolled on the internet for carrying a metallic case and an “Usuofia” bag when joining the university.

According to Nawangwe, the scholarship allows Suubi to study Mechanical Engineering at Makerere.

Suubi had initially been admitted to Bsc Education (Economics) at Makerere University, through the Government sponsorship scheme.

The letter dated August 14, informed Nawangwe of its intention to give an offer for a full scholarship to Suubi for a course in Mechanical Engineering.

The company requested for a memorandum of understanding between them, the university and the student.

Joadah Consult, is one of the leading infrastructure consultancy companies in Africa, running key projects such as the Expansion of Mulago National referral hospital.

“I thank Joadah & the very many Ugandans for their outpouring messages of support to Ssuubi,” Nawangwe said on Thursday.

Ssuubi has already been granted permission to change the course from Bsc Education (Economics) to Bsc Mechanical Engineering, one of the top three Engineering programmes.
