On Wednesday, Forum for Democratic Change [FDC] party officials paid last respect to the fallen Party founding leader Owek. Absolome Bwanika Bbaale at the Party National Headquarters – Najjanankumbi Kampala.
Owek Bbaale Bwanika has been the FDC Luweero District Party branch Chairman, former NEC member – Deputy Secretary for mobilisation and organisation incharge of Buganda Region.
He is also former Constituent Assembly delegate (5th Parliament of the Repúblic of Uganda) representing Katikamu County in Luweero he is one of the architect of the 1995 Ugandan Constitution.
He is also a former Great Buganda Kingdom Lukiiko (Parliament) representing Bulemeezi county and former Commissioner in the Ministry of Rehabilitation. He has been a very distinguished senior citizen.
The FDC Party in a special way paid its last respect at the FDC Party Headquarters – Najjanankumbi where the files and ranks paid tributes and eulogised the late Hon. Bbaale as selfless, committed, principled and a patriotic Ugandan.
National Leaders who eulogised the late Hon. Bbaale included; People ‘s President HE Rtd Col Dr. Kizza Besigye, FDC Deputy President incharge of Buganda region who also doubles as the Lubaga Division Urban Council Mayor Her worship Owek Joyce Nabbosa Ssebuggwawo she represented the FDC Party President Hon. Eng. Patrick Amuriat Oboi, Party National Chairman Owek. Ambassador Wasswa Biriggwa, Kampala capital City Lord Mayor His Lordship Hon. Hajj Erias Lukwago, FDC Deputy Secretary General Harold Kaija.
Represented Rt. Hon. Nathan Nandala-Mafabi the SG, The FDC Treasurer General Hon. Ekanya Geoffrey, Party Spokesperson who is also Minority chief Whip in Parliament Hon. Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda, Minority Leader in Parliament who doubles as Gulu Woman MP Rt. Hon. Betty Aol Ocan, FDC Deputy Electoral commission Chairman who was also the deceased ‘s great friend /Colleague in the Constituent Assembly Hon. Boniface Toterebuka Bamwenda and the deceased ‘s family which was represented by his son Mr. David Kasse Bwanika.
Besigye said Baale has been a highly consistent, courageous and deeply committed fighter for freedom and justice.
“We are very grateful to the family for the huge sacrifices and loving attention exhibited in caring for our colleague during his illness. He was flown to India twice for treatment,” Besigye said.
Besigye said these moments continue to highlight the dysfunctional and shambolic healthcare system of the country.
“This is all the more reason we must double our efforts to end the NRM/M7 Junta. We won’t let you down- Rest in Peace.”
Burial is today at 4pm at his ancestral burial home at Kalongo – Miti in Kasana Town Council – Luweero District after the requiem service at St. Mark cathedral which started at 11am.
The FDC Party which he helped to form, served it diligently and loved it unconditionally will miss him a lot, said FDC Youth League Leader Walid Lubega.
