Nsambya hospital in Kampala has finally bowed to public pressure and released a patient they had detained over Shs9m medical bill.
Ivan Ndyabandiho, was released Tuesday evening and provided with an ambulance that took him to Mulago hospital.
On Wednesday morning, he travelled back to his home in Rukungiri having been forgiven the lumpsum Shs9m hospital bill.
For a month, Ivan Ndyabandiho had been in hospital with no treatment.
Ndyabandiho, a builder, fell of the roof of a house on which he was he was working in Masaka district and was rushed to Nsambya hospital on 25th May.
His wife Maureen Turyahebwa told NTV the hospital stopped providing medication as the outstanding bill of nine million shillings has not been paid.
Nsambya Hospital management asked him to leave after he failed to pay the medical bill saying they needed the bed for another patient.
On Monday, Turyahebwa told NTV that the hospital had denied him medical attention and detained him for failing to pay.
The story raised a storm amid public circles prompting the hospital to forgive the debt and let him go.
