Government of Uganda owns 38 properties abroad, according to Uganda Media Centre.
During the period under review the Ministry has constructed a Chancery and two staff apartments in Kigali – Rwanda.
The Chancery in Bujumbura Burundi is at 75% completion while 7 prefabricated units were built in Mogadishu Somalia in 2017/18.
There is also a Consular and guard house in Dar es Salaam Tanzania.
Uganda Missions Abroad acquired land in; Guangzhou China and Dodoma in Tanzania for the construction of Chanceries/Official Residences.
Construction works for chancery in Juba, South Sudan will commence in July 2019 and renovation of Chancery in Brussels started this May 2019.
Uganda Missions Abroad renovated the former Chancery in Kinshasa in DR Congo now commercial property generating Ugshs. 924m per year.
They also renovated the official residence in Copenhagen, Brussels; and chanceries in Washington and Dar es Salaam.
Deputy government spokesperson Col Shaban Bantariza lecturing University students leaders at the National Leaders Institute in Kyankwanzi said Uganda continues to rise.
“To stand does not mean that you can’t or won’t fall, but to fall, rise, stand and move forward is what makes an undisputable achievement. He says, “indeed since 9th October, 1962 to date, Uganda has stumbled but we’ve taken it in our strides, risen & stood,” Bantariza said.
He said this is the reason why today many Ugandans especially the young generation is more concerned and interested in opportunity and benefit coming out of the convincingly strong foundation for our future prosperity as individuals, families and Country.
