CAF club competitions: KCCA falls as Proline tames Malawi

The two Ugandan representatives in the CAF Club competitions, KCCA and Proline were both in action on Saturday during the CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation cup respectively.

Proline, making their first ever CAF club debut overcame visiting Masters Security from Malawi 3-0 at the Star Times Stadium in Lugogo.

Ivan Bogere netted a hat-trick on the rainy evening in a match watched by a fair crowd that included the FUFA President Eng. Moses Magogo and the Hononary FUFA President Dr. Lawrence Mulindwa, among others.

Proline had command of the game throughout the 90 minutes and will have a three goal cushion when the two clubs lock horns next week in Blantyre city.

At the Namibian capital in Windhoek, KCCA squandered squandered a precious lead to fall 3-2 away to African Stars.

KCCA took a 7th minute lead through Ivan Kemberipa’s own goal.

Ambrosius Amseb scored from the penalty mark for the equalizer with five minutes to the end of the first half.

The hosts took the lead for the first time in the game when Youssouf Ibroihim struck in the 71st minute.

Striker Henry Patrick Kaddu brought the game level in the 83rd minute as KCCA got a precious second away goal.

Youssouf regained African Stars’ lead moment.

Defender Samuel Kato had grabbed the third goal for KCCA but the referee canceled the effort for off-side.

The respective return legs will be played on the forthcoming weekend.
