President Museveni has said he found the country in a sort of coma and brought it back to life.
He was Saturday officiating at the ground-breaking for Kabusu-Bunamwaya-Lweza road.
He said the road is one of the 96 roads that government is going to tarmac in Kampala.
“When the NRM came, we found a fainted nation and we resuscitated Uganda and started minimum recovery,” Museveni told his audience.
“Now we have commenced on infrastructural development, and my hope is that our wanainchi get wealth and jobs from this development.”
He added: “However, we need to utilise our funds better.”
Museveni said some MPs want to increase their salaries and travel, yet government can use that money to put in citizens’ Saccos.
“Please tell your MP to support us deal with the crucial things instead of their personal development.”
