Police has placed a ban on music concerts organised by Leone Island singing doctor and Democratic Party national coordinator Joseph Mayanja aka Jose Chameleone.
According to his programme, Chameleone was supposed to hold three concerts in Mutukula and Kalisizo in Kyotera District and another in Bukomansimbi District.
Robert Nkuke aka Mutima, one of Chameleone’s managers, told Daily Monitor police told them to secure clearance from police headquarters in Kampala.
This was Friday while revellers who had already paid Shs10,000 waited for Chameleone at Bukomansimbi playground.
Police raided the venue and dispersed the revellers, disrupting the show.
Didas Ssenkungu, one of the managers of NG Events, told Monitor they have shows next weekend and are willing to fulfil police’s conditions.
Chameleone now shares the fate of Kyadondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine whose shows were blocked for promising to run against President Museveni in 2021 elections.
Last week, Chameleone joined the DP and declared his intention to contest for the Kampala Lord mayoral race against Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago in the 2021 General Election.
