Former Kyadondo East MP Apollo Kantinti has been sent to Luzira prison for six months after failing to pay a loan amounting to Shs260m.
According to court records, Kantinti acquired a Shs300m loan in June 2016 from Standard Chartered Bank.
As per the borrowing terms, he was supposed to pay back in 50 instalments over a period of four years at 25% interest.
By 2017, he had failed to pay and in May this year, High Court issued a warrant of arrest for him.
He was arrested on June 27 and locked up.
On Thursday, he was brought to court and sent to Luzira prison for six months until he pays the loan.
Kantinti lost the Kyadondo East MP seat to Independent Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine.
