Opposition figure and People’s Government President Kizza Besigye Saturday attended the wedding of Augustus and Faith Muzanira in Rukungiri stadium.
Augustus is a son to Rukungiri Woman MP Betty Muzanira and her only child.
It’s the first time Kizza Besigye is attending a function inside Rukungiri stadium since launch of Muzanira campaign in 2018 and the second since 2016 elections.
All other attempts to use the stadium he has been blocked by security.
Besigye attended wedding mass for Augustus and Faith at Christ the King and the reception inside the stadium.
Addressing guests, Besigye thanked Rukungiri people for their unwavering commitment to the struggle saying “everyone in Uganda now looks at the Rukungiri model for political change.”
On Friday, Besigye attended the installation of Rumanzi Perez DeCuellar as the new President Lions Club Ntungamo.
Perez, a Daily Monitor journalist based in South Western Uganda will serve the Lions Club for the next one year with strict instructions to hand over office after expiry of his term.
The Lions Club that has existed for over a century is largely involved in Charity focusing on tree planting, creating awareness about non-communicable diseases in the region.
Rumanzi says he believes in “actions” and will work towards chartering the Lions Club in Rukungiri.
In attendance was Kajara County Mp Timuzigu, Lions Club Members from Mbarara, Ntungamo, Sheema, Kabale, Bushenyi and Kisoro.
