There was drama at parliament while opposition Forum for Democratic Change [FDC] changed offices for their members Hon. Nandala Mafabi and Cecilia Ogwal.
Hon. Nathan Nandala-Mafabi the Chairperson Public Accounts Committee, who is also MP Budadiri County West, has been sitting in an office at the North Wing, Third Floor, Room 300 at Parliament House.
The legislator was recently designated Chairperson, PAC and was supposed to move to the Fourth Floor, where the PAC chairperson’s office is located.
This is the office that was occupied by the previous PAC Chairperson, Hon. Angelline Osegge.
Recently, Parliament designated and or elected commissioners and Hon. Mwijukye Francis was designated by the Opposition Forum for Democratic Change as its representative in the Commission (apex decision making organ of Parliament).
Just like Hon. Nandala-Mafabi is taking up office on the Fourth Floor, Hon. Mwijukye Francis will be taking up office on the Fifth Floor, the one formerly occupied by Hon. Cecilia Ogwal.
The Dokolo Woman Representative will now occupy the Third Floor office that has been vacated by Hon. Nandala Mafabi.
It is reported that Mafabi refused to vacate his office and was forcefully evicted.
But the FDC Secretary General says it was not an eviction as some quarters of the media are saying but re-allocation of office space, which is a mandate of the Department of Sergeant-At-Arms.
Office reallocation happens often in parliament. When asked whether it’s true he refused to vacate the office on 3rd floor, Mafabi replied:
“I am MP for Budadiri West. Am entitled to an office. So where is the office of MP Budadiri West now?”.
