The Minister of Health Dr Jane Ruth Aceng on Wednesday met the Obusinga bwa Rwenzururu leadership led by the Kingdom’s Prime Minister.
They discussed how to manage the burial of the Queen Mother Christine Biira in a very dignified and safe manner amidst the challenge of Ebola in Kasese.
“The OBR received us very warmly and we agreed on three important points: MoH will provide guidelines for use by the Kingdom, all the kingdom executive and the Organising committee members will be sensitised before the burial and our teams will support arrangement at the burial and put in place infection control measures and materials,” she said.
Aceng said the entire ceremony will be as short as possible.
She expressed heart felt condolence for the loss of their dear queen mother of the Obusinga bwa Rwenzururu.
“We also discussed how to manage the burial of the queen mother in a very dignified and safe manner amidst the challenge of Ebola in Kasese.
At Mpondwe border point of Entry, Kasese, the health teams are doing a commendable job. Screening is going on very well.
“Our challenges remains at the unofficial entry points which we discussed at length on how to manage them better in the wake of the Ebola outbreak in Kasese District.”
She urged locals to embrace prevention measures such as; avoid direct contact with body fluids of a person suspected or infected with Ebola and always wash hands thoroughly with soap and water.
