H.E President Yoweri Museveni who is also the commander in chief of the armed forces has appointed Maj Gen James Birungi the new Special Forces Command Commander, replacing Maj Gen Don Nabasa.

UPDF spokesperson, Brig Richard Karemire, confirmed the development on Wednesday morning.

“There is a change of Command at SFC Hqs from Maj Gen Don Nabasa to Maj Gen James Birungi,” Karemire noted.

He said Gen Nabasa is to attend the Strategic Course at the National Defence College as part of UPDF professionalisation through training and adding more knowledge.

“Congrats to the two Generals.”

Maj Gen Nabasa assumed command of the Special Forces in January 2017, replacing Lt Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba who is currently the senior presidential advisor for special operations.

Maj Gen Birungi has been the Chief of Staff Airforce until his appointment as SFC commander.
