Female MC and rapper Jocelyne Tracy aka Keko has graduated from a film school in Toronto, Canada.
Keko has been staying in Canada since 2017 when she fled Uganda claiming persecution for being a lesbian.
One of Uganda’s top female rappers, Keko has been pursuing a Filming Course in Toronto.
“Final term at Film school starts. It was all a dream, God made it happen. I dint know how I would pay for it but God got the master plan,” she tweeted.
On Saturday May 11, 2019, Keko shared a picture of herself in a graduation gown saying: “You can do anything with God”.
In 2017, Keko was granted a Canadian citizenship upon which the self-professed lesbian declared she was a free agent and ready to marry a girl.
“My gay ass is free yes free and there will be a wedding you best believe,” she tweeted from Toronto Ontario but nothing ever came of it.
She is known for songs like Kwekunya featuring Vampino, Cindy & Juliana; Go Green featuring Angella Katatumba, Hustlers Night featuring Enygma, Navio & The Mith and Make You Dance featuring Madtraxx.
Keko is the most awarded female Hip Hop rapper from Uganda. She has 3 awards, all won in 2011.
In April 2017, she was rated third in East Africa after Who Rosa Ree of Tanzania and STL of Kenya.
In July 2017, Keko, South Africa’s Kanyi Mavi, Guinea’s Ashley and Zimbabwe’s Black Bird were named top four African Woman Hip Hop Artist by Music Africa.
The 29-year-old tomboy became a household name in East Africa thanks to her 2011 breakout single How We Do It.
The rapper was one of the few Ugandan celebrities to speak out against her country’s Anti-Homosexuality Act in 2014 (the law was later annulled by the courts).
