First daughter Natasha Museveni Karugire is the president of UPDF Tomahawks, the basketball team of the armed forces.
The Observer reporters that on Sunday March 24 at the MTN arena in Lugogo, Natasha graced the opening league fixture involving the UPDF Tomahawks and Rez Life.
She inspected the two teams, as chief guests do and was introduced as the president of the Tomahawks.
It is a position that was recently created in the hierarchy of the team, following her shown interest in the team.
Tomahawks team manager also UPDF officer Moses Mugagga told The Observer that because of Natasha’s interest in the team, they felt that getting her position in the administrative structure would be handy.
Cedric Babu, the president of the Uganda Tennis Association, told the newspaper that the Tomahawks are benefiting a lot from Natasha because she is part of the new generation of leaders.
Natasha’s elder brother Muhoozi Kainerugaba has a longer association with sport. He has been involved with boxing, basketball and football more closely.
A few years ago, Kainerugaba offered a donation of Shs 3 million to the Uganda Boxing Federation (UBF) in 2013.
On top of that, it later emerged in 2015, that Kainerugaba backed the establishment of the Special Forces Command (SFC) Boxing Club, as a patron.
In 2017, during the Uganda Sports Press Association (Uspa) annual gala at Imperial Royale, Kainerugaba delivered a Shs 30 million kitty from his father to the Uspa Sacco.
