Army seizes truck with FDC relief items for Buyende

Amuriat and Musumba in Buyende

Opposition Forum for Democratic Change [FDC] and People’s Government officials led by President Patrick Oboi Amuriat and Prime Minister Proscovia Salaamu-Musumba spent Wednesday in Buyende district delivering relief items to people recently displaced by a devastating hailstorm.

Six villages of Kabugudho A & B, Nakabembe A & B and Nabweyo A & B were most affected, according to Kizza Besigye’s aide Ronald Muhinda.

“Like FDC and People’s Government did in Apaa, Isingiro, Toroma, Bududa and most recent Lusanja, the people of Nabweyo in Buyende have got some relief from the Government and Party that care,” Muhinda said.

The party said in a statement that it had delivered some of the relief items (One Consignment truck) to the affected villages of Itamia, Kabugudho A&B, Nakabembe A&B, Nabweyo A&B in Kidera Sub County, Buyende district.

“One of our trucks was confiscated by police and army before crossing the Nile and our team is on ground to ensure that relief items are not stolen by errant security officers.”

The party said the situation in the affected villages is wanting as many houses were destroyed by a storm that is suspected to be a typhoon while a significant number lost their lives.

The Party continues to appeal to all Ugandans and agencies to go to Kidera Sub County Buyende district and commiserate with communities and deliver relief to the affected communities.

Present for the charity exercise are Party President Patrick Oboi Amuriat, Deputy President Taaka Kevinah, Vice Chairperson Proscovia Salaamu Musumba, Commissioner KUDEEBA Richard and Deputy Health Secretary Dr. Wakabi Dominic and a host of several leaders from Busoga region.
