Uganda’s youngest rapper Patrick Senyonjo aka Fresh Kid has finally met with the State Minister for the youth Nakiwala Kiyingi.
While we are still waiting for the details of the meeting, we are aware Fresh Kid told the minister not to become a barricade to his talent.
“Finally we get to meet face to face with my #hon. #Minister……. Discussion on the way forward in place….” Fresh Kid’s manager tweeted on the baby’s handle.
He added: “#Talent #is #Nature… Please don’t put a barricade on my #talent……”
This is the same message he echoed in his latest song titled “Bambi” asking authorities to let him hassle.
On Monday, youth representatives in Parliament under their umbrella body “The Uganda Parliamentary Forum” advised the managers not to bow to pressure from Nakiwala.
The minister is suggesting that Fresh Kid be banned from performing to help him concentrate on his studies.
But National Youth MP Anna Adeke and Western MP Mwine Mpaka advised the minister to consider lobbying for more resources to help in developing young talents
They cited the prevalent levels of youth unemployment in the country, saying the youngest singer needs resources on top of education.
Nakiwala had cited the labour act which prohibits children under the age of 12 from working.
