Pregnant Rwandan woman dies on Uganda border

Red Cross tried to save her

Unidentified Rwandese National has this afternoon died at the Kyanika boarder.

Uganda Red Cross volunteers deployed at Kyanika border [Uganda, Rwanda and DRC] who are on duty to screen people entering Uganda for Ebola, encountered a life threatening scenario.

While on duty, they were approached by officials to give lifesaving interventions to an unidentified Rwandese pregnant woman who had collapsed at the border.

She died while they were trying to save her, said Ronald Kanyerezi, Uganda Red Cross Branch Manager at Kisoro [Kyanika Border].

“We tried to save her life but it was too late,” said Kanyerezi. 

Red Cross managed to recover her body in the spirit of observing dignity.
