Self-styled city Prophet Elvis Mbonye has been cited at the centre of feuding Makerere University Guild Presidential candidates Joshua Mukisa and Julius Kateregga and their eventual clashes on Thursday evening.
According to campus sources, Mbonye reportedly injected millions of shillings into the campaign trail of Mukisa against Kateregga who is backed by Kyadondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine’s brother, Eddie Yaawe.
Apparently, the pastor channelled “logistical support” through his student’s association “National Christian Students Association (NCSA)” to Joshua William Mukisa who hails from Lumumba hall.
NSCA was reportedly openly campaigning for Mukisa, a staunch follower of Mbonye.
“The final rally is on today and Mukisa Joshua William is still in the lead. Be part today as #MAKDECIDES19,” NSCA wrote on its Facebook page on Thursday.
“If you are at Makerere University, you definitely have heard the unrelentless chants and undoubtedly strong spirited support of Independent Guild Presidential Aspirant, Mukisa Joshua William.”
“The towering smartly dressed Mukisa, whose message has inspired thousands of students vividly seen in his campaign trail is definitely a strong contender one who we believe is to take on the mandate of leadership at this university with a strong drive.”
Mukisa, a 3rd year law student, is famous for petitioning court and the Makerere Guild Tribunal on concerns affecting students.
“If you do hear chants of a winner, do join the celebration and don’t forget to cast your vote when ballots open! #NCSALeadership#MUKDecides2019,” Mbonye’s association said.
The Zoe fellowship pastor even sent his personal assistant Simon Ssenyonga to secure the Makerere guild vote in favour of his church’s candidate.
Mbonye is one of the fast rising, youthful, new kids on the religious block. He is in the class of Pastor Grace Lubega of the Phaneroo fellowship.
Prophet Mbonye has had a lot of resistance as he is dubbed a false prophet by city pastors like Pastor Martin Ssempa of the Makerere Community Church, PR. Wilson Bugembe among others.
