Mityana Municipality MP Francis Zaake survived being arrested outside Gulu Magistrate’s Court on Thursday.
Zaake appeared with his Kyadondo East counterpart Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine to answer treason charges.
The legislator, together with 35 other suspects, are charged with treason over stoning President Museveni’s vehicle during last year’s Arua Municipality by-election violence.
Arua Municipality MP Kasiano Wadri, Gerald Karuhanga, the Ntungamo Municipality legislator, were among those present. Others are; Paul Mwiru, [Jinja East Municipality], Bobi wine’s Body guard Eddie Mutwe, etc.
Grade One Magistrate Isaac Imran Kintu extended their bail for over three months.
After the court session, CID detectives waylaid Zaake, grabbed him and tried to stuff him inside their waiting car.
“This morning CID Police officers have attempted to arrest me once again in Gulu after the Court session,” Zaake said.
He added: “I thank my colleagues for restraining them from executing their mission.”
After failing to get Zaake, police then grabbed Ssenyange aka Rabadaba who is also among the #Arua37.
“The mission is to deny us freedom of association, they have resorted to dogging us over unknown charges. We shall not bow down to this kind of intimidation,” Zaake said.
Ssenyange is accused of driving the Yellow Grader registration number UAP 064 R, which police alleges was used to block the president’s motorcade ahead of the Arua MP by elections.
Meanwhile, police denied having Bobi Wine’s Tundra truck.
Police also claims that the complex passwords in the suspects’ phones that were confiscated during the arrest in Arua are hindering police’s investigations with the Forensic team unable to unlock them.
The magistrate gave police up to the end of the month to bring a list of all items confiscated from the suspects during their arrest last year.
