Mukono town mayor George Fred Kagimu says he is ready to unseat Mukono Municipality Member of Parliament Betty Nambooze Bakireke in 2021 general elections.

He disclosed this during a dinner organised at his home in Nabuti, Mukono municipality on Thursday.

This dinner was attended by political leaders including Kyadondo East MP- Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu aka Bobi Wine of People power, DP members like Buikwe South MP Lulume Bayiga, PDP President Abed Bwanika, Sam Lubega, Mukono Municipality councillors, among others.

The members concurred that for the goodness of the municipality, they will jointly campaign for Kagimu.

They will soon start meetings around the municipality spreading the gospel ahead of the next elections.

They members reviewed Kagimu’s mayoral term and concluded that he is worthy to be a member of the parliament.

Kagimu united DP members who had got some misunderstandings from 2016 elections and maintained peace with his fellow leaders.

MP Kyagulanyi urged Mukono leaders to unite if they are to change Mukono 2021 leadership.

“Colleagues, we need to be reasonable enough as Ugandans because each one of us has a reason to share on the country’s cake without discrimination. So, go back and spread the gospel of registering for National IDs,” said Bobi Wine.

Mayor Kagimu, on his part, said he got the idea of contesting from Mukono political leaders and elders.

He started special tours all over the villages making up Mukono municipality inquiring and showing his manifesto in case he is elected.

“I don’t have any objection on this position because what I have done during my term of leadership in Mukono is visible. So, if people decide, am ready to go to parliament,” said Kagimu.

Kagimu was elected as Mukono municipality mayor in 2016 on a DP card.
