South African national found dead in Kampala hotel

A South African national, Johannes Fredrick Steinberg, has been found dead in a Kampala hotel.

According to police, the 64 year-old was found in Golden Tulip Hotel bathroom by staff.

He had reportedly received a phone call from someone alleging to be his daughter.

According to Kampala Metropolitan police spokesperson, SP Patrick Onyango, Steinberg’s body was discovered with no visible signs of external injuries.

Onyango said Steinberg came to Uganda on February 26 and checked in room 602 on 6th floor of Golden Tulip hotel.

His body has been taken to Mulago hospital for a post-mortem to establish the actual cause of his death.

In 2018, Alex Sebastian, a 41-year-old Swede and Tersvouri Toomajuha Petteri, a 42-year-old Finish died at Sheraton and Pearl of Africa hotels, respectively.

Hans Jurgen Vallant, 64, a German died enroute Nsambya hospital while Eric Yvomr, 54, a Belgian was found hanging in his girlfriend’s Muyenga apartment.
