URA staff arrested for taking Shs45m bribe

The State House Anti-Corruption Unit together with detectives from Criminal Investigation Department [CID] have today arrested two staff of Uganda Revenue Authority [URA].

According to Senior Press Secretary, Don Wanyama, the two URA staff picked Shs45m bribe from a businessman in Jinja town.

The bribe was to help him evade taxes worth Shs3bn. The money was marked.

They are in police custody and will be arraigned in court.

The Anti-Corruption Unit – State House Uganda is headed by Lt Col Edith Nakalema.
