First son Lieutenant General Muhoozi Kainerugaba has been decorated at a pipping ceremony of the 65 recently promoted senior UPDF officers at Mbuya army headquarters.
After this pimping ceremony, Muhoozi officially becomes RO 08643 Lt General.
Muhoozi was the commander of the Special Forces Group, which contains the unit known as Presidential Guard Brigade responsible for providing security to the President of Uganda and to Uganda’s constitutional monarchs, from 2008 to 2017.
The Special Forces Group is also responsible for providing security at Uganda’s oil installations.
He is the son of President Yoweri Museveni, Commander in Chief of the UPDF and president of Uganda.
Muhoozi has served as Senior Presidential Adviser for Special Operations since 2017.
Among other notables decorated on Tuesday is Maj Gen John Lorot. He was born in Karamoja, Eastern Uganda.
Lieutenant General Charles Lwanga Lutaaya was also decorated.
Internal affairs minister Gen. Jeje Odongo, security minister Gen. Elly Tumwine, chief of defence forces (CDF) Gen. David Muhoozi and Lt. Col. (rtd) Bright Rwamirama, who is the minister of state for defence in charge of veteran affairs, were among the top military profiles in attendance.
