Delta TV journalists arrested for taking pictures

Police on Monday arrested Delta TV cameraman/reporter, Mike Mutebi, and his colleague Kephers Mayumba, for allegedly taking pictures at Clock Tower.

The journalists told a colleague Monday afternoon that they were being detained at Biwologoma Police Post “for taking pictures of traffic police officers at clock tower”.

Biwologoma police station serves the Shoprite area.

The journalists were on their way to meet former EALA MP Mike Sebalu seeking his reaction to some of the recommendations from the ruling NRM Central Executive Committee [CEC] retreat currently ongoing in Nwoya district.

“We were on a rush heading to Hon. Mike Sebalu for a story. As we jumped onto a boda, we were stopped and arrested,” Mutebi said.

Police said the boda rider was a suspected criminal and the journalists were arrested for filming his arrest.

They were later driven from Biwologoma station to Central Police Station [CPS] located at the city centre.

The television management did not respond to inquiries made on the matter.
