President Museveni has finally congratulated Congo’s new President Felix Tshisekedi upon his victory in the December 2018 election.
The 32nd Ordinary Summit of the African Union Heads of State and Government ended Monday in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
Senior Press Secretary, Don Wanyama, said before departing Addis Ababa, at the end of the AU Heads of State summit, Museveni held bilateral discussions with various leaders.
Museveni held talks with Kenya President, Uhuru Kenyatta, Mohamed Abdullahi of Somalia and Felix Tshisekedi of DRC, whom he congratulated on his recent victory.
“I thank the Ethiopian government and people for their hospitality,” Museveni said at the end of the three-day summit.
“I also congratulate H.E. Tshisekedi on his recent victory.”
Museveni said Uganda will continue working with these brotherly countries to strengthen political and economic relationship.
Earlier, Museveni attended a breakfast meeting to mark the 400th anniversary of the Transatlantic Slave Trade, addressed the plenary session on the need for integration and later held bilateral meetings with several heads of state.
