Busoga Diocese’s maiden Bishop also a regent of the reigning Busoga Monarch, Bishop Emeritus Cyprian Bamwoze, has died.
Bamwoze died Monday morning at the Uganda Cancer Institute after a long battle with cancer, according to an announcement by the Busoga College Mwiri alumni.
“The Busoga College Mwiri alumni with deep sorrow announce the death of Emeritus Bishop Cyprian Bamwoze. Bishop Bamwoze has been an active OB of the college,” the announcement reads.
He did a lot as the Bishop of Busoga Diocese to steer and keep Busoga College Mwiri as the leading traditional school in Busoga and Uganda at large, said the alumni.
“It is of no surprise that Mwiri has given birth to many scholars and prominent Ugandans in the different professions and trades. May His Soul Rest in Peace.”
Bishop Bamwoze was the first Bishop of Busoga Diocese being consecrated in 1972 after the creation of Busoga Diocese from Namirembe.
Bamwoze retired in 1998 and was succeeded by Dr. Michael Kyomya.
